2nd Brooklands very much a family group consisting of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Beaver Scouts are young children usually aged between 6 and 8 years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young children can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their 6th birthday, and they can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between 8 and 8½ years. Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beavers enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.
We also organise Beaver Sleepovers which are often the first time a young person spends a night away from home. They take place in suitable buildings, often Scout centres.
At the moment we have 18 boys in the Beavers colony. We have a very active parent rota which you will be asked to join if your child becomes part of the colony. We charge a £10 joining fee which covers the cost of the necker, woggle and any badges and books etc that maybe needed throughout their time in Scouts. This is a one off payment. Subs are £25 per school term, and are to be paid whether your child attends or not.
For the safety of your child, all leaders, helpers and parents are checked with the police and Scout association through the CRB process. The Beaver Leader (Buzz) has first aid training to deal with any minor injuries which may occur.
2nd Brooklands Beavers meet on a Tuesday evening at 6:00. Either contact the Beaver Leader Karen Mathieson (phone number on Contacts page) or pop along on a Tuesday evening for an informal chat.
